Cause of Aviophobia

Why are so many people afraid to fly? The cause of aviophobia varies for each individual, most fall into one or more of the following categories:

A single traumatic incident
a single traumatized incident is a one time experience at which there is such extreme fear, even if only for a moment. The initial fear may be nothing to do with flying. The problem started at a time when they were under extreme stress for something completely unrelated, but the mind somehow associated the negative feelings to flying anyway.

An associated Traumatic Experience
Sometimes there is individual who doesn’t experience the fear, but associated to someone who does, either in real situation, or watching television. Some suggest that the media are a major behind fear of flying.

Incorrect information
Misunderstandings of the principles of aviation can fuel an unjustified fear of flying. Turbulence and engine are the common problems to understand. Educate yourself, get the correct information, and never trust the airline flight myths!
